XVIIIth century traditional techniques

In the XVIIth and XVIIIth century
some upholstery were made entirely of animal hair. Some of these techniques are still used today for antique chairs. The quality of this type of work is incomparable. Stuffing with animal hair can last a life time and even more…

The bottom of the seat is set under the border of the frame. The webbing is made of linen. Stuffing made of animal hair in a linen cloth is added on the frame.

These seats are entirely made of animal hair:
•  Back of the chair, in a basket-handle arch shape

•  "Diderot style" seat
•  arms finely stitched
